This policy explains what information the American Safety Training portal collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers this website and the training, enrollment, and certification services we provide through it.
This portal is operated by American Safety Services, Inc., 13416 W. Interstate 20 E., Odessa, TX 79765. You can reach us at training@americansafety.net or (432) 552-7625. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean American Safety Services, Inc.
When you create an account or one is created for you, we collect your name, email address, and password credentials. Your profile also holds your phone number, mailing address, employer or organization, department, and job role. Students may have a photo on file for use on certification cards.
We keep records of the classes you enroll in, who enrolled you, attendance, test scores and course results, certificates issued, their certificate numbers, and their expiration dates. Certificates can be checked by anyone holding the certificate number through our public verification page, which is how employers and regulators confirm that a credential is genuine.
Payments are processed by our payment processor, Fortis. Card numbers are entered directly into the processor's hosted payment form and are not stored on our systems. What we retain is a payment token, the card brand, the last four digits, the amount, and the status of the transaction, so we can match a payment to an enrollment, issue refunds, and keep accounting records.
If you upload a file — a student photo, a signed sign-in sheet, a course image, or an organization logo — we store it with our file storage provider and associate it with the relevant record.
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. We use cookies to keep you signed in. We also use privacy-focused analytics from our hosting provider to measure page performance and traffic volume; these do not build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising or social-media tracking pixels on this site.
We use the information above to run the training business: to create and secure your account, to enroll you in classes and take payment, to run classes and record attendance and results, to issue and verify certificates, to notify you about your classes and certifications, to answer your questions, to keep required business and tax records, and to comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
American Safety Services, Inc. operates a text-message program that sends teaching-schedule notifications to its own instructors. Only American Safety Training instructors who have opted in through their profile in this portal receive these texts. We do not send text messages to students, customers, or the general public, and these messages never contain marketing or promotional content. Participation is optional and is not a condition of employment, of being scheduled, of your pay, or of using this portal.
If you opt in, we store your mobile number, the date and time you opted in, where you opted in (your profile page, an administrator enabling it at your request, or onboarding), the messages we send you, their delivery status, and your replies.
Message frequency varies and depends on your teaching schedule. Typically you receive one message each evening listing the classes you are scheduled to teach the next day, plus one reminder approximately 30 minutes before each class you teach. On days you are not scheduled to teach, you generally receive no messages.
Message and data rates may apply. American Safety Services, Inc. does not charge you for these messages; your mobile carrier may.
No mobile information will be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories of information described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We do not buy, rent, or use opt-in lists obtained from any other party — every number in this program was given to us by the instructor it belongs to.
We use Twilio Inc. solely to transmit these messages on our behalf. Twilio processes your mobile number only to deliver our messages and may not use it for its own marketing purposes. We share your mobile number with no one else for any messaging or marketing purpose. When we log delivery errors returned by the messaging provider, the destination phone number is removed from the logged error text.
Reply HELP to any message for help, or contact us at training@americansafety.net or (432) 552-7625. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them; STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, and QUIT are all honored, and we honor plain-language opt-out requests as well. You may also turn schedule texts off at any time in your profile in this portal, or ask an administrator to turn them off for you. Stopping text messages does not affect your work assignments — your schedule remains available in this portal and by email.
When a number opts out, we keep a record of that opt-out so that we do not text the number again.
We send email about things you need to know: account and sign-in messages, enrollment and payment confirmations, class reminders and schedule changes, certificate delivery, certification-expiry notices, and invitations to join an organization. Instructors also receive their next-day teaching schedule by email. These are service messages about your account and your classes rather than marketing, so they are part of using the portal; if you do not want them, contact us and we will discuss what can be turned off for your account.
We share information only as described here:
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. No mobile information will be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
We keep training and certification records for as long as they are needed to prove that a person holds a valid credential and to meet our recordkeeping obligations, which generally means well past a certificate's expiration date. Payment and accounting records are kept for the periods required by tax and financial rules. We keep opt-out records indefinitely so that we do not contact someone who has asked us to stop. Other information is kept for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.
Access to the portal requires a password, and what each person can see depends on their role. Traffic to the site is encrypted in transit, and card numbers are handled by our payment processor rather than by us. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
You can review and update most of your profile information by signing in and opening your profile. You can turn schedule text messages on or off there as well. To ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct something you cannot edit yourself, or to ask us to delete information, contact us at training@americansafety.net. We may need to keep certification and financial records even after such a request, because we are required to.
This portal is intended for adults enrolling in workplace safety training. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting the text-message program will be reflected here and on our Terms of Use.
